Victoria Selman’s Blood For Blood is on the shortlist for the CWA Debut Dagger Award which is a very prestigious position to be in. There’s a lot of competition in the thriller market today and rising above the background hum is a real challenge. This novel stands out for the unusual idea that a police profiler might, in turn, be profiled by a serial killer.
Ziba Mackenzie, this is the first book in a two book series featuring this character, is our profiler. She is caught up in the destruction of a commuter train in a collision. She offers help to a dying woman who gives her a note. “He did it. You have to tell someone.” Who did it? Who should she tell? Are the central questions of the early part of the book.
Ziba discovers that one of the other victims bears the mark of a serial killer. A killer that appears to have been off the streets for nearly 25 years. Well, he’s making up for lost time and he’s about to embark on a truly crazed spree across London. What brought him back? And how did the woman on the train know?
Now she must find out the answers and fast. Because while she’s tracking the killer, the killer is tracking her, and her reputation and life are on the line.
“High octane, high stakes, high speed. With energy and panache, Selman’s heroine goes it alone in this serial-killer thriller, perfect for our time.” Says Jo Furniss, author of The Trailing Spouse and All the Little Children.
There are rocky moments in Blood For Blood as you might expect with a new author but overall, I found it to be a great read. You can check the price of Blood For Blood by Victoria Selman on Amazon today here.
